Biography

2014: Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year… First Team All-Sun Belt Conference… Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team… Started 22 times in 23 games… Program’s first recipient of conference’s defender of the year award… Played major role in defense that allowed just 22 goals all season with a school-record 12 shutouts… Defense held eight opponents to single-digit shots, including a combined seven in back-to-back victories over Southern Miss (9/5) and Southern (9/7), and 14 in league wins vs. Georgia Southern (10/17) and Georgia State (10/19)… Recorded five goals and three assists for 13 points, and had two game-winning goals… Her goals and points totals ranked sixth on the team, and her two match-winners were tied for second… Four of her five goals came during conference season… Accounted for both scores, including the golden goal in overtime, in 2-1 win at Appalachian State (10/12), leading to her second SBC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season… Opened scoring in 6-0 victory vs. Southern Miss (9/5), then dished out two assists her next time out vs. Southern (9/7) to earn her first SBC weekly award… Assisted on final goal in SBC quarterfinal win vs. Georgia Southern (11/7).

2013: Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team… Made 22 appearances on the year, earning 21 starts and finishing the year tied for third on the club in assists with four total…Also tallied a pair of goals, her first proving to be the game-winner at Arkansas State in a 2-0 Jaguar win…Converted a headed chance off a corner kick to give USA a 2-0 lead over Louisiana-Lafayette in Mobile on Oct. 24…Her first assist on the year allowed Jordan Duncan the opportunity to put USA ahead 1-0 two minutes into the match, played in Mobile on  Sept. 13, which snapped Murray State’s four-game shutout streak entering the contest…Knocked on a pass from the endline to former Jaguar standout Clarissa Hernandez versus Texas State on Sept. 27, which resulted in a brief two-goal Jaguar lead over the Bobcats’ in the teams’ SBC opener…Third assist on the year came after her rebound volley was finished by former USA center back Shelby Owen, which gave the Jaguars a 1-0 lead two minutes into their Oct. 27 win over Louisiana-Monroe…Her fourth assist allowed USA the opportunity to tie Arkansas State at a goal apiece in the semifinals of the 2013 SBC Championships, which ended with the Jaguars advancing to the championship match after penalties

2012: Appeared in 17 matches, starting 16 times… Recorded 13 shots on the year… Anchored a USA defense that shut out eight opponents

High School: Was a six-year member of the Montgomery Academy varsity soccer team, first appearing while she was in seventh grade… In senior season, she led the Eagles to a 22-0-1 record… .Was named to the Montgomery Advertiser’s all-metro first team from 2009-11 and earned a Player of the Year nod in 2012

Club: Was recommended for the US Club Soccer’s 2009-10 id2 national player identification and development program and entered the national player pool… In 2009, she played in the Dana Cup on the U-17 girls’ team in Denmark and was a member of the Olympic Development Program Region III team… Also attended the Region III Interregional National Development Camp in Coral Springs, Fla., in 2010

Personal: Full name is Ninoshka Shantel Rabsatt-Smith… Born on May 23, 1994 in La Ciudad de Panama, Panama… Daughter of Terry and Eneida Sims… Has an older sister, Jahayra Lowe… Hobbies include thrift shopping, taking naps, arts and crafts and eating… Chose South Alabama because it was the perfect fit for her… Favorites – movie: “Coming to America”; book: “The Last Song” by Nicholas Sparks; athlete: Sydney Leroux; musical artists: Miguel, Jason Mraz, John Legend, Adele, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu; foods: coconut rice, fried plantains, churros and macaroni and cheese; classes: anatomy & physiology and kinesiology… Likes listening to music and relaxing with friends and family, and dislikes bugs and bad manners… Likes to listen to music and talks to her teammates before a match… Prematch ritual is eating a cup of ice… Best part of playing sports is knowing that you have a group of girls that you can always talk to who genuinely care about you… Celebrities she’d like to meet are Morris Chestnut, Miguel, Wyclef and Lauryn Hill… Understands most Spanish… Goal in five years is to be an established physical therapist and goal in 10 years is to have a family and have her own practice… Three wishes: more wishes, eat her weight in jumbo corndogs without gaining weight and have Primark open a store in the U.S.
