Mallory Luckett

Mallory Luckett enters her fourth season with the program during the 2016-17 campaign and her third as an assistant coach of the Jaguar staff.

Luckett served as the director of basketball operations during the 2013-14 season before being promoted to her new role on June, 9, 2014.

During her two years as an assistant at South Alabama, Luckett has worked with the point guards, while also recruiting the Florida panhandle, along with her home state of Kentucky and other areas in the Midwest.

Colby Davis and Genesis Perrymond both ranked in the top 15 of the Sun Belt in assists during the ‘15-16 season.  Davis was tied for 12th, while Perrymond was tied for 14th in that category.

Luckett originally joined the South Alabama staff on on May 16, 2013 as the director of operations where she was in charge of team travel and community outreach for the Jaguars.

Luckett arrived at USA after spending three seasons on the North Alabama staff with head coach Terry Fowler and Jaguar assistant coach Dan Presel. Following two seasons as graduate assistant coach, she moved into an assistant coach position during her third season after earning her master’s degree in criminal justice at UNA.  During her first year at UNA, Luckett and the Lions posted a 21-7 record, which included a first-place finish in the Gulf South Conference East Division.  North Alabama also advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time since 1994.

Luckett arrived at UNA after a four-year playing career at Murray State. After originally walking on to play for MSU, she earned a scholarship her sophomore year and became a starter her junior and senior seasons. She made history her senior year as only the second Racer to earn a triple-double with 14 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds against Jacksonville State.

While at Murray State, Luckett was a part of a regular-season championship and a tournament championship, which granted an automatic bid in the NCAA tournament. She ended her senior season leading her team in assists, steals and rebounds, while averaging nearly 10 points per game.

In May of 2010, Luckett received her bachelor’s degree in organizational communication at Murray State.  She is a native of Louisville, Ky., where she graduated from Mercy Academy in 2006.
