Keynan Jackson enters his second season with the South Alabama program after joinging the Jaguar basketball program in August 2013.  Jackson assists with post players and is in charge of video technology for the program.

The coaching role will be the first for Jackson as he was a three-year letterwinner at UNA under head coach under head coach Bobby Champagne.  While with the Lions, Jackson played in 80 games, starting 52 of 53 over his final two seasons, and dished out 193 assists in his three years with the Lions.  He also scored 130 points, pulled down 168 rebounds and recorded 85 steals in his career.  As a senior, Jackson started all 28 games for North Alabama at the point guard position, leading the team with 99 assists as UNA advanced to the NCAA South Region Tournament. He was also tops in the Gulf South Conference with a 2.2 assist/turnover ratio.  

In the classroom, Jackson was also a standout as he recorded a 3.53 GPA with a major in health, physical education and recreation.  He was named to both the Gulf South Conference Winter All-Academic team and the league’s honor roll during his final season as a student-athlete.  

Jackson was also very involved in the community as he assisted with the men’s basketball team on numerous community service events, including working with the Salvation Army, Special Olympics, Kiwanis Club, Boys and Girls Club and UNA Baptist Campus Ministries, collecting for Toys for Tots and reading at local elementary schools.

Prior to his time in Florence, Jackson played one season at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., under head coach Barry Mohun.  During that one season, he helped lead the Bucs to the state finals in 2010 and finished the season ranked seventh in the national polls.  

The Alabaster, Ala., native earned his bachelor of science in physical education and exercise science at North Alabama in 2013.
