Biography

2015-16: Outdoor — Competed in the 1,500- and 5,000-meter runs at the Sun Belt Conference Championship ... Had season-best time in the 1,500 meters of 3:55.15 to finish fourth in the race at Mississippi State’s Jace LaCoste Invitational ... Was also third in the event at the Louisiana Classics, and came in fourth in the race at South Alabama Invitational after crossing the line in 3:57.37 ... Ended up third in the 3,000-meter run at the Jaguar Opener with a 8:57.56 time ... Posted 1:57.42 mark — his best of the season — in the 800 meters at the Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn ... Also took part in the event at Auburn’s War Eagle Invitational and the Louisiana Classics ... Indoor — Ran the mile at the Samford Invitational, and competed in the 800-meter run at both the Privateer and Jaguar Invitationals ... XC — Placed second at the Jaguar Opener in his USA debut, completing the 6,000-meter course in 18:41.5 ... Also was second at the Azalea City Classic the following week, posting a mark of 24:51.9 over 8,000 meters to help South claim the team championship ...Finished with a time of 26:00.7 to come in 69th place at Alabama’s Crimson Classic, recording a 26:15.79 mark at the Greater Louisville Classic ... Was injured just prior to the start of the Sun Belt Conference Championship and didn’t race again in the fall.

At Furman: Competed two years in cross country and track for the Paladins ... As a freshman in 2013 was part of a team that claimed the Southern Conference cross country championship, finishing 23rd in the race ... Competed in two meets as a sophomore, coming in seventh place in the individual standings at the Gene Mullin Invitational ... Earned all-league honors in the distance medley relay at the SoCon Indoor Championship both seasons ... Was honored on the conference's All-Freshman Team at the meet after finishing sixth in the 1,500-meter run at the outdoor meet ... Led off the distance medley relay team that won the race and was all-conference at the SoCon indoor meet his sophomore year, also placing seventh in the 800 meters ... Finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run that spring at the conference outdoor championship.

High School: Earned two letters in cross country and track and Milton High ... Helped the Eagles to a runner-up finish at the 2011 Georgia High School Association Cross Country Championships ... Part of a MHS team that won back-to-back region titles ... Best time in the mile was 4:18 and had a mark of 1:55 in the 800-meter run.

Personal: Son of Todd Riech and Ardin Tucker ... Father, Todd, represented the United States at the 1996 Olympic Games and remains the school record holder at Fresno State — where he was a three-time All-American — in the javelin with a 81.30m/266-9 mark ... Mother, Ardin, won the pole vault at the 2000 Canadian Olympic Trials and would go on to represent the country at the 2002 Commonwealth Games; she remains on the top-10 all-time performance list at Fresno State in the heptathlon ... Uncle, Jim Harrison, played professional hockey for 12 years including eight seasons in the National Hockey League ... Favorite movie is “Gladiator” ...
