Biography

2019-20 (COVID-19 SEASON): Posted a 13-8 singles record and an 11-10 doubles record … Won five of his seven singles matches during the spring … Advanced to the semifinal round of the consolation bracket of the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., where he defeated three ranked opponents … Defeated North Carolina’s Brian Cernoch, who was ranked 48th at the time, in straight sets to advance to the semifinal match … With doubles partner Clèment Marzol, advanced to the semifinal round of the Main Draw of the ITA Southern Regional held in Auburn, Ala.

2018-19: Honored by the Sun Belt with three postseason awards … Named first-team all-Sun Belt in singles and doubles, while also being chosen as the league’s player to watch for 2019-20 season … Compiled an 21-8 record between the fall and the spring … Went 5-0 in conference play and ended the season on a 15-match winning streak with his final two singles matches going unfinished … Clinched the second-straight Sun Belt Championships for the Jaguars with a come-from-behind win in his singles match against Georgia State … In doubles play, Cloes and Marzol, participated in the 2018 ITA National Fall Championships and made it all the way to the championship match of the consolation round … The duo amassed an overall record of 19-12, and went 10-8 during the spring season … Cloes and Marzol finished up the season ranked the 70th best doubles pair in the country by the ITA., climbing as high as number six in the nation … The teammates defeated the Tulane team of Ewan Moore and Tyler Schick in the double’s element of the first round of the NCAA tournament.

2017-18: Named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference in both singles and doubles with Marzol … Had an overall record of 28-5 in singles for the most wins and best winning percentage on the team (.848) … Started the dual season on an 18-match unbeaten streak, winning 16 matches and having two go unfinished … Lost just two matches between Jan. 20 and May 14 … Defeated No. 21 Memphis’ No. 88 Andrew Watson in straight sets in the Jags’ NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships First Round match … Clinched the Sun Belt Conference Championship with his victory in singles against Georgia State … Went 23-7 in doubles, including a record of 19-6 with his main doubles partner Marzol … Picked up three wins against nationally ranked opponents with Marzol, including a win over Mississippi State’s No. 1 Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic … Qualified in doubles for the NCAA Men’s Tennis National Championships … Finished the season ranked No. 24 in doubles with Marzol.

2016-17: Named second-team all-Sun Belt Conference in singles and first -team in doubles with partner Juan Cruz Soria… Joined the team for the spring season… Posted a 23-3 singles record for the team’s best winning percentage (.885) … Was 1-0 at court No. 3, 9-1 at No. 4, 8-2 at No. 5 and 5-0 at court No. 6 … All but two wins came in straight sets … Earned singles wins against opponents from Auburn, Georgia State, twice, North Florida, Arizona and Florida Gulf Coast all in straight sets … Won a season-best and team-high 14-consecutive matches starting on Jan. 15 against Troy which lasted until March 8 … Closed out the regular season with six-straight wins … Went 2-1 in the conference tournament, including a 6-2, 6-4 win against No. 37 Georgia State … Played the last 10 singles matches at the No. 3 or 4 positions … Posted a 17-9 doubles record for a team-best .654 winning percentage … Was 14-8 on the No. 1 court and was 3-1 on court No. 2 … Played with four different doubles partners as he went 12-8 with Soria, 4-0 with Olivier Gingras, 4-4 with Tuki Jacobs and 1-0 with Pierre Noyon … Only lost consecutive double matches once all season … Went 2-1 in the conference tournament, including a 6-3 win on court No. 1 with Soria in the final against Georgia State.
