After four years at South Alabama as a student-athlete, Romain Bocaert joined the men’s tennis coaching staff in the fall as a volunteer assistant coach.
Bocaert, a Lille, France native, became the first South Alabama player to be named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Men’s Tennis Team for both singles and doubles for two consecutive seasons (2011 and 2012) since 2001. He was also a participant in the 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s Doubles Tournament with partner Lucas Viel.
In his four year career at South Alabama, Bocaert compiled a 63-39 overall record and posted a 46-28 mark in dual matches in singles. He also went 53-44 overall in doubles and 39-33 in dual matches.
Bocaert played primarily at the No. 1 spot in his final three seasons. During his time at South Alabama Bocaert defeated five nationally-ranked opponents in singles, including two in the top 80.
