Coach Kittrell on Eric Walters – “Eric Walters has a lot of potential. He’s a big right-handed pitcher who needs to put on some weight. He needs to get experience on the mound because he hasn’t been pitching that long. He has good sink on his ball, but he

needs to get stronger. He has a bright future ahead of him if he can put it all together.”


2009 (Redshirt): 
Sat out season as a non-medical redshirt.

 

High School:  Pitched for coach Doug Leffard at Bayside Academy in Daphne, Ala. • Compiled a 6-3 record with a 2.43 ERA in 62 innings as a senior in 2008 • Struck out 58 against only 11 walks • Named 2nd team All-State as a pitcher • Also hit .354 • Admirals fell in second round of 2008 2A state playoffs, finishing the season with a 24-8 record • As a junior in 2007, posted a 7-3 record with a 2.59 ERA in 74 innings • Walked only four with 78 strikeouts for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of better than 19:1  • Hit .378 and was named 2nd team All-State as a first baseman • From 2006-2008, posted a 16-6 record with a 2.40 ERA for the Admirals • Also played basketball during senior season at Bayside.

 

Personal: Born Aug. 31, 1989 • Full name is Eric Bradley Walters • Third of three sons to Phillip and Tonya Walters • Oldest brother P.J., who now plays in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, played baseball at South Alabama from 2004-2006 and holds Jags' career strikeouts and innings pitched records.
