Vinnie DeCarlo joined the University of South Alabama Sports Medicine Staff in September 2021 and will oversee the Jaguars Men’s Basketball and Dance teams.
DeCarlo previously was an Associate Athletic Trainer at Nicholls State University where he oversaw the Women’s Basketball and Men’s/Women’s Tennis teams, was the graduate assistant/intern supervisor, and was the site administrator for the Stopher Gymnasium/Larry Ferachi Athletic Training Facility. DeCarlo also was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Nicholls prior to his stint on the Sports Medicine Staff.
In addition to his two stints at Nicholls, DeCarlo also worked for the Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute where he served in a number of different roles, including Director of Sports Medicine at Christian Brothers School, Head Athletic Trainer/Program Director at Holy Cross School, Medical Director for New Orleans FC and Montagua FC and Athletic Trainer for the NBA Officials Program for the New Orleans Pelicans.
DeCarlo holds Alabama and Louisiana licenses, BOC certification, and CPR/AED certification. He is also certified in Dry Needling and Spinal Manipulation.
He is a member of the National Athletic Training Association and the Southeast Athletic Training Association.
DeCarlo is originally from North Port Florida and got his Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training from Florida Southern College in 2015 and his Master’s of Education in Higher Education Administration from Nicholls State University in 2017.
