Biography

2006-07:  Only Lady Jag to start all 30 games as a junior...in her first season at South Alabama, Jones had an immediate impact on the Jaguar offense...ranked second on the club in points per game with 11.0 per contest...knocked down a team-best 58 three-pointers, while also averaging 3.0 rebounds per game...in conference play, Jones was just as consistent, averaging 11.3 ppg and 3.2 rpg...recorded 17 double digit performances in her 30 games, including five 20-point performances...keyed a huge second half rally versus Florida Atlantic (Jan. 6), connecting on seven of her 13 attempts, including going 6-for-8 in the second stanza...her seven three pointers set both a new South Alabama individual record for three-pointers in a game and a new overall individual Mitchell Center record...led USA in scoring on nine occasions...selected to the LIU Turkey Classic All-Tournament team....ranked 21st in the Sun Belt in scoring...ranked second in the league in three-pointers per game with 1.93.

 

2005-06: Red-shirted due to NCAA Transfer rules.

 

Pre-USA: Saw limited action in her two seasons at Baylor where she averaged 2.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 9.7 minutes a game. In the Lady Bears' 2004-05 National Championship season, Jones averaged 1.6 points and 0.8 rebounds in 6.6 minutes a game.

 

2004-05: Jones made her first career start against Indiana (Nov. 19) and played a season-high 18 minutes...played 10 or more minutes in eight games, but logged a total of just 41 minutes in 10 league appearances...over her last 17 games, she shot 10-of-25 (.400) from the floor and 2-of-2 (1.000) from three-point range...did not play in Baylor's NCAA Tournament victories over LSU, North Carolina or Minnesota...in BU's second-round win over Oregon, she had a steal in four minutes off the bench...saw one minute of action versus Michigan State in the NCAA Championship game...did not score, but contributed a season-high three assists and two rebounds in 10 minutes of BU's opening-round NCAA Tournament victory over Illinois State...contributed six or more points three times on year (Sam Houston State, Florida, Montana State)...tallied a season-high seven points vs. both Florida and Montana State...snagged a season-high four rebounds in eight minutes off the pine against Texas A&M at Waco...enjoyed productive six-minute stint off the bench against Oklahoma State in Waco with two points, two rebounds and a pair of assists against the Cowgirls.

 

2003-04: Saw action in 34 of 35 games, missed only the Texas Tech game in Waco...played 15 minutes or more in first 10 games of the season and more than 20 minutes in six of first seven games...tallied a career-high 15 points against Nicholls State...played 23 minutes in her first two collegiate games (Mississippi State, Nicholls State)...turned in a good outing against Rice with an eight-point, six-rebound performance...was perfect from three-point range against Rice, going 2-for-2...led the team in assists against Penn State with four...dished out a career-high eight assists against Sam Houston State...played 25 minutes against Texas A&M, her previous high for a Big 12 game was 22 at Missouri...was impressive in Baylor's NCAA second round win over Florida, scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half, was 5-of-6 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.

 

High School: Had a standout four-year career at Ferriday High School in Ferriday, La.,...averaged 23.0 points, 12.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.1 steals for her prep career under coach Lisa Abron...helped lead the Lady Trojans to a career record of 115-22 and a career district record of 32-2 which included three undefeated seasons...earned McDonald's All-American honorable mention in 2003 and Street and Smith All-American honorable mention in 2002...led District 3-2A in scoring and rebounding for three years...three-time District 3-2A MVP and Louisiana Class 2A All-State first team three times...four-time Girls Athlete of the Year for District 3-2A...was a member of the Beta Club in high school and was impressive in the classroom as well...spent spare time volunteering in a nursing home.

 

Personal: Monique Elizabeth Jones...nickname is "Mo"...has a younger sister...would like to play in the WNBA one day...favorite athletes are Marion Jones, Michael Jordan, Michael Johnson and Magic Johnson...favorite type of food is Cajun...Majoring in Communications.
