Coach Kittrell on James Dunning – “James Dunning is a very good student and a submarine-style pitcher. When he’s on he can gets us a lot of groundballs. The key for James will be to pitch consistently down in the strike zone.”
Fall 2008: Pitched 9.1 innings over four outings ¨ Worked 3.0 innings without allowing an earned run in second intrasquad game (9/20) ¨ In game two of Red and Blue World Series (10/5), came in to start fourth inning with his Red team trailing 2-0 ¨ Allowed one run on three hits with a pair of strikeouts in 4.0 innings ¨ Was in line for win with his team leading 7-3 when he left the game, but did not factor in the decision ¨ Struggled through one-third of an inning in game six (10/12), but posted a 4.00 ERA in three previous appearances.
2008 (Sophomore): Appeared in seven games out of the Jaguar bullpen ¨ Compiled a 1-1 record and worked 10.0 innings ¨ Earned first collegiate win vs. Nicholls State (3/18) with 2.0 innings of relief ¨ Threw a season-high 2.2 innings vs. New Orleans (3/22) ¨ Fanned a season-high three hitters in a game twice -- vs. Nicholls State (3/18) and vs. New Orleans (3/22) ¨ Allowed one run or less in five of seven outings.
2007 (Freshman): Made four appearances on the mound, all in relief ¨ Worked 4.0 innings and allowed only one earned run on seven hits ¨ Finished the year with a 2.25 ERA ¨ Struck out three batters ¨ Pitched a full inning on three occasions.
High School: An honorable mention all-state selection during his senior year at UMS-Wright Preparatory School in Mobile, Ala. ¨ Was named the Bulldogs' Cy Young winner and Most Improved Player ¨ Selected to the Mobile Press-Register Deadly Diamond Team in 2005 ¨ Went 13-5 with three saves and a 1.50 ERA ¨ Helped UMS-Wright advance to the third round of the state playoffs.
