Coach Kittrell on Jake Crain – “Jake’s an outstanding young man. He worked hard this fall. He needs to improve his speed, but he swung the bat well in the fall.”

2009 (Redshirt):  Sat out season as a non-medical redshirt.

High School:  Played for coach Barry Hightower at Opelika High School in Opelika, Ala. • Helped Bulldogs to 43-4 mark and Class 6A Area 8 championship in 2008 • Led Opelika to within one win of state championship after winning first game of best-of-three championship series, but dropped final two games • Contributed a double and RBI-single in game 2 and went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI in game 3 of championship series • Hit .360 with five homers and 28 RBI • Team was ranked as high as second in the nation by ESPN • Also played football at Opelika • Football team won region championships in 2007 and 2008.

Personal:  Born Nov. 2, 1989 • First of three children to Kurt and Susan Crain • Has a younger brother, Blain, and a younger sister, Shelby • Father is the linebackers coach for the USA football team • Kurt Crain also played college football at Auburn and pro football for the Green Bay Packers and Houston Oilers.
