Coach Kittrell on Chris Davis ? “Chris Davis is a very versatile player for South Alabama. He can play first base, second base, third base and the corner outfield spots. He’s got a good left-handed bat with some pop. He just needs to be a little more consistent, cut down on his strikeouts, and he could be a real key for us offensively.”

Fall 2008:  Hit .286 (14-for-49) in 14 games ¨ Tied for fifth on team with 15 runs scored and tied for second with nine walks ¨ Also drove in 10 runs ¨ In first intrasquad game (9/19), went 3-for-3 with three steals, three runs and two RBI ¨ Stole second base after all three singles ¨ Went 4-for-5 with a triple, a stolen base and two runs in sixth intrasquad game (9/28) ¨ Doubled and scored a run in game one of Red and Blue World Series (10/4) ¨ Singled, walked, scored a run and drove in one in game six (10/12) ¨ Doubled, walked, scored two runs and drove in two in first game of doubleheader vs. Meridian (10/18) ¨ In second game, went 1-for-2 with a walk, a run and a RBI ¨ In exhibition vs. Northwest Florida State (10/19), doubled, walked, drove in one and scored three times ¨ Ended fall with a hit and a walk in each of last four games ¨ Went 4-for-4 stealing bases, good for third most on team.

2008 (Junior):  Appeared in 51 games and made 47 starts ¨ Started 32 games in right field, 10 at first base and five at third base ¨ Finished the season with a .265 batting average (45-for-170) and eight home runs ¨ Also drove in 41 runs and scored 43 times ¨ Knocked two hits, two runs and two RBI in games against Jackson State (2/26) and Manhattan (3/1) ¨ Had first multi-homer game of career with two home runs, one of which was a grand slam, vs. Manhattan (3/2) ¨ Added a triple to finish that game 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a career-best seven RBI ¨ In finale at New Orleans (3/23), drew a career-high four walks ¨ Homered in both games he played in series vs. Arkansas State (3/28 & 3/29) ¨ Had four hits, two walks, four runs and four RBI in those two games ¨ Went 2-for-2 with a homer, two walks, two RBI and a career-best four runs scored vs. Louisiana-Monroe (5/3) ¨ Homered again the next game vs. Louisiana-Monroe (5/4) for his second time of the season with home runs in back-to-back games ¨ Went 5-for-9 stealing bases ¨ Reached base safely in 20 consecutive games (3/11-4/12) ¨ Recorded a .488 on-base percentage (39-for-80) during streak.

2007 (Sophomore):  Played in 18 games, first coming off the bench, then as a starter for 10 games in late April and May ¨ Batted .319 (15-for-47) ¨ Doubled twice and drove in six runs ¨ Scored nine times and had six multi-hit games ¨ Built a six-game hitting streak (4/27-5/12) in which he hit .526 (10-for-19) with six runs scored ¨ Had third consecutive game with two hits in 2-for-3 effort vs. Western Kentucky (5/12) ¨ Also stole a base and scored twice in that game ¨ Got on base at a .457 clip (16-for-35) during streak of nine straight games reaching base safely (4/27-5/23).

2006 (Freshman):  Saw significant action at the plate and in right field ¨ Played in 26 games and made nine starts ¨ Batted .280 (14-for-50) with seven RBI and 11 runs scored ¨ Had first multi-hit game vs. Nicholls State (4/4) when he went 2-for-4, scored once and drove in a run ¨ Followed that game with his first three-hit game, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs vs. Florida International (4/7) ¨ Hit first collegiate home run in a late-inning, come-from-behind win over Southeastern Louisiana (4/26) ¨ Went 2-for-2, scored twice and stole first base of season in 7-1 win over Tulane in NCAA Oxford, Miss. Regional.

2005 (Redshirt):  Sat out the season as a non-medical redshirt.

High School:  Four-year letterwinner for Daphne High School in Daphne, Ala. ¨ Graduated fourth in his class of 340 and received a Presidential Scholarship to South Alabama (given to students who graduate with a 4.0 GPA) ¨ Helped the Trojans to the 2002 Class 6A High School Championship ¨ Missed a third of his senior season due to hand injury ¨ Prior to injury he posted a .700 slugging percentage and a .944 fielding percentage while playing mostly at third base.

Personal:  Born April 26, 1986 ¨ Full name is Christopher Sean Davis ¨ Lists Barry Bonds as his favorite player and the Atlanta Braves as his favorite team ¨ Has a younger brother and a younger sister ¨ Married and has one child.
