Career Notes: Named second-team all-Sun Belt Conference in 2009 • Ranked fifth in SBC with .390 batting average, tied for seventh with 16 stolen bases, 13th with .441 on-base percentage and second with 1.69 hits per game in 2009 • Also led league with 50 hits in conference play • Enters 2010 season ranked third on USA’s career batting average list.
2009 (Junior): In his first season of Division I baseball, Heisler led the USA squad with a .390 batting average in 49 games • Also led Jags with .441 on-base percentage, ranked second with 45 RBIs and third with .507 slugging percentage and 14 doubles • Along with David Doss, was one of two Jags to walk as many times as he struck out • Started in center field in 42 of 49 games, with remaining seven starts as designated hitter • Batted in leadoff spot in 15 games, second four times, third 29 times and fifth in one game • Committed only one error in 88 chances for a .989 fielding percentage • Homered and drove in three runs in season opener against Mercer (2/20) • Missed six games early in the season due to injury, but started each of USA’s last 46 contests • Went 4-for-6 with four runs and three RBI against Memphis (3/11) • Had multiple hits in all three games of series at Western Kentucky (3/13-15), going 7-for-15 with two runs and two RBI • Established a career high with four RBI while going 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs in Jags’ win over Mississippi State (3/24) • Drove in four more runs the next day in win over Southeastern Louisiana (3/25) • Had eight multi-hit games during then-career-best, 10-game hitting streak (3/24-4/10) • Went 23-for-44 with 13 RBI, 10 runs and eight stolen bases during streak • Stole at least one base in five consecutive games (4/3-10), capping streak with three steals in a game against UALR (4/10) • Also went 4-for-5 with two runs and a RBI in that game • Delivered third consecutive game with at least three hits in Jags’ win over 22nd-ranked Alabama (4/22) • Scored game-winning run after he singled and stole second base in seventh inning against Troy (5/14) • Ended season on a career-long, 12-game hitting streak • Also holds active streak of 22 games reaching base safely • Hit safely in 42 of 49 games on the season, and never went consecutive games without a hit.
Junior College (Faulkner State): Played two seasons for coach Wayne Larker at Faulkner State (Ala.) Community College • Hit .420 (37-for-88) with 17 runs scored in 24 games as a sophomore • Missed part of season with hamstring tear • Hit a home run in his first at bat after returning from the injury • Drew 10 walks and struck out just three times in 101 plate appearances • Had a .490 on-base percentage and went 12-for-14 in stolen base attempts • Also credited with five outfield assists and did not commit an error in 44 chances • Honored as a member of the All-State Tournament team in 2007 • Hit .402 (76-for-189) in 52 games as a freshman • Scored 41 runs and added 31 RBI • Went 23-for-31 in stolen base attempts.
High School: Won back-to-back Alabama Class 6A state championships under coach Bill Glover at Baker High School in Baker, Ala. • Hit .484 with two homers, 31 RBI and 41 stolen bases • Named first-team all-state by ASWA as a senior • Won 2006 Chris Boyette Silver Slugger award at Hank Aaron Classic • Drafted in 35th round by Chicago White Sox in 2006 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Personal: Born June 7, 1988 • Middle of three children to Steve Heisler and Donna Gollihar • Has an older brother, Lance, and a younger sister, Lyndsey • Lance played baseball at USA in 2006 and 2007 • Exercise Science major.
