2010 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Bracket
MOBILE, Ala. - Heading into the final day of Sun Belt Conference play Saturday afternoon, the SBC Championship field was set, but all eight seeds were still to be determined. Now that the regular season has ended, the tournament field and seedings are complete, and fifth-seeded University of South Alabama baseball will face fourth-seeded Florida International Wed., May 26, at 9 a.m. at Reese Smith Jr. Field in Murfreesboro, Tenn., to open the SBC Championship, which is hosted by Middle Tennessee.
USA (31-25, 17-13 SBC) will look to redeem itself from the regular season, when FIU swept the Jaguars in three games in Miami. The winner will advance to face the winner between top-seeded Florida Atlantic and eight-seeded Western Kentucky, with the losers in the two games returning on Thursday for an elimination game at 9 a.m.
The tournament opens with the Jags taking on FIU Wednesday morning, and concludes Sat., May 29, with the championship game, which will be broadcast live on Comcast Sports Southeast at 2 p.m.
Every game of the 2010 SBC Championship will be available via webcast through SBC Extra for $9.95. Live stats will also be available through www.sunbeltsports.org.
The Sun Belt Conference and Middle Tennessee host Family Night which will also serve as the student-athlete awards ceremony for the 2010 championship on Tue., May 25. The event, which is open to the public, will be held at Reese Smith Jr. Field beginning at 7:30 p.m., and will feature the announcement of the all-SBC team, home run derby and fireworks.
