BASEBALL TO HOLD INTANGIBLE MILE WEDNESDAY

BASEBALL TO HOLD INTANGIBLE MILE WEDNESDAY

MOBILE, Ala. - For the 41st time in program history, University of South Alabama baseball will hold its annual Intangible Mile at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at Stanky Field.

Senior Clint Reynolds, who became the first three-time Intangible Mile winner last season, will look to make history once again and better his finish of 5:24 last year. The Daphne, Ala. native has won the event three of the last four years, and will look to become the first four-time winner on Wednesday. He is one of six Jaguars to win the event multiple times. Reynolds' personal best in the Intangible Mile came in 2005, when he posted a finish of 5:13, which stands as the fastest time since Brian Christ's finish of 4:57 in 1999.

The Intangible Mile, started by legendary head coach Eddie Stanky in 1969, originally marked the beginning of fall practice. Now held at the beginning of the spring, the race examines the physical shape of the players and must be completed within six minutes.

Christ's finish in 1999 is the fastest recorded by a Jaguar. Colin Kerley ranks second all-time with a finish of 5:05, and Juan Pierre is third with a time of 5:08 in 1997. Reynolds' finish in 2005 ranks fourth all-time.
