MOBILE, Ala. - Heavy rainfall forced the suspension of Thursday's game seven of the Red & Blue World Series at Stanky Field. The teams are scheduled to resume play with the Blue team leading 3-1 in the top of the second inning.
Umpires pulled the teams off the field while Blue team starting pitcher Lance Baxter was facing Kyle Dees with a 2-2 count, one out in the inning and Brittian Schultz on first base. Play will resume with the same scenario on Friday.
The Red team got on the board in the top of the first when Dominic Diaz drew a one-out walk and came around to score after consecutive singles from Adam Heisler and Tyler Vick. Baxter got a flyout and a strikeout to escape the inning, and the Blue team offense answered with a three-spot in the bottom half of the first against Red team starting pitcher D.D. Hanks.
Clint Reynolds got the offense started with a one-out single, then stole second base. Jake Overstreet, Sean Laird and Brad Hammac drew consecutive walks to score Reynolds, then Stuart Barton put the Blue team on top 3-1 with a two-run double.
Schultz got on with a one-out single in the top of the second, but play was halted before the next at-bat completed, and after a rain delay of about an hour, play was suspended.
