Top 25 Polls on ESPN.com
MOBILE, Ala. -- South Alabama picked up 17 additional points in today's Associated Press Top 25 poll and doubled its vote total in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll following a pair of wins last week. The Jaguars extended their winning streak to 13 games by defeating Louisiana-Lafayette and Denver.
USA now has 22 points in a poll of the nation's media representatives, up from just five a week ago. The Jags were in a tie for 37th last week and this week are alone in that same spot. Among coaches ballots, South moved from a tie for 39th to 37th by jumping from three points to six.
The Jaguars are still listed as an 11-seed in this week's bracket projection by Joe Lunardi. His bracketology has USA taking on No. 6 Kansas State in Tampa.
South Alabama faces its toughest week on the 2007-08 schedule when it travels to North Texas and Louisiana-Monroe on Thursday and Saturday. The latter game will be televised on ESPN2 beginning at 3 p.m.
