RED AND BLUE WORLD SERIES DATES ANNOUNCED

RED AND BLUE WORLD SERIES DATES ANNOUNCED

MOBILE, Ala. ? With fall practice underway, University of South Alabama head coach Steve Kittrell announced the dates of the 2006 Red and Blue World Series Monday. The best-of-seven series will open up on Saturday Sept. 30, at 11 a.m., at Stanky Field.

The annual Red and Blue World Series is an intersquad series in which coaches can evaluate players for the upcoming season. Last season, the series was won by the Red team in the seventh game, by a score of 3-2.

Thursday Oct. 5 will be game three of this year’s series. It will also be student night at Stanky Field. South Alabama baseball will supply free pizza and drinks for students. Game time is set for 6 p.m. Tours of the baseball facilities will run from 6-6:30 p.m. Also, the first 100 students will receive a free South Alabama T-shirt.

This year’s series should again go down to the wire, with the offense playing a major role. In the 2006 season, South Alabama tied its All-Time school record for batting average at .326. Back from last year’s team are sophomore David Doss, who hit .400 and Jeff Cunningham, who was third on the squad with seven home runs.

Admission to all Red and Blue World Series games are free. Keep up with all of South Alabama’s results at www.USAJAGUARS.com.
