REINSTETLE HEADED TO OLE MISS

REINSTETLE HEADED TO OLE MISS

MOBILE, Ala. - After just one season as the South Alabama recruiting coordinator and hitting coach, Rob Reinstetle accepted an assistant coach position at Ole Miss Wednesday. Reinstetle will act as the Rebel’s recruiting coordinator as well as hitting coach. At just 30 years of age, Reinstetle is one of the top young coaches in the country.

In 2006, the Jag hitters completed one of the greatest offensive seasons in school history. USA set a new school record for hits (707) and finished tied for the school record for single season batting average (.326), which Reinstetle was a large part of.

“Rob did a tremendous job for South Alabama,” said Jaguar head coach Steve Kittrell. “He is definitely going to be missed. He made a huge impact in just one year. I am happy for Rob, but it is bitter-sweet. Any time you have a young outstanding coach like Rob, you run the risk of losing him because teams see what he can do. Now we will look for another coach who will do as great of a job as Rob.”

“I truly love South Alabama and it will always have a special place in my heart,” said Reinstetle. “USA is a well known nationally recognized program. I just hope Mobile will rally around the baseball program. It’s a tough decision to leave Mobile, but one I had to make.”

The Jags welcomed Reinstetle for the 2006 season after he spent two years at the College of Charleston. In 2004, the Cougars finished second in the nation in batting at .341 and in 2005 C of C led the nation in batting average at .355. Both seasons saw the College of Charleston make NCAA Regional appearances.

"I am very excited to announce the addition of Rob as part of our staff," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "He has accomplished so much success as a recruiting coordinator and coach at the age of 30. He will be a great addition to our program."
