MEN'S TENNIS RANKED NO. 26 IN FIRST FILA/ITA COMPUTER RANKINGS

MOBILE, Ala. - The South Alabama men's tennis team, ranked No. 71 in the coaches poll last week, scored the No. 26 ranking when the first computer poll was released today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The computer poll determines what a team has done up to that point in the entire season and is the official poll for the rest of the season. The weekly coaches poll is based primarily on week-to-week results.

"It is quite an accomplishment, having six new players, to move up so fast," head coach Sott Novak said, "It is nice to be rewarded for the hard work, but we'll keep the ranking in perspective because this team cares more about the details of improving than the rankings."

The Jags will take their newly minted ranking to the Blue/Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala. on March 16-18. No. 15 Louisville, No. 19 Notre Dame, No. 22 Virginia Commonwealth, and No. 25 North Carolina State are scheduled to compete.
