JAGS DROP TEN-INNING MARATHON 17-13 TO OKLAHOMA

Ala. - David Freese and David Doss both collected four
hits in a ten inning marathon, but South Alabama (2-1) eventually
fell to the Cowboys of Okalahoma State (1-0) 17-13 in game two of
the Jaguar Invitational at Stanky Field on Friday.
South Alabama
held a lead into the eighth inning until the Cowboys mounted a comeback.
They plated three runs in the top of the eighth taking the lead
12-11. The big blow came when Tyler Mach homered to left center
field.
The Jags fought
back to tie the game at 12 and forced extra innings when Bill Kleinschrodt
collected an infield single with the bases loaded. Klienschrodt
finished the game three-for-six.
The Cowboys
took the lead for good in the top of the tenth. Shelby Ford launched
a three-run home run to put the game out of reach. South Alabama
managed to pick up one run in the bottom of the tenth but were able
to land the big blow.
Eric Sulivant
took the loss for USA while Matt Gardner (1-0) picked up the win
for the Cowboys in relief.
South Alabama
is back in action Saturday afternoon when it takes on George Mason
at 1 p.m. The 4:30 p.m. game pits No. 20 Arkansas against Oklahoma
State.
In game one
of the Jaguar invitational Arkansas picked up its first win of the
season as it defeated George Mason by a score of 4-1.
All four teams
