Ala. - Head coach Steve Kittrell
and the South Alabama baseball program announced its 2005 Fall Baseball
Instructional League on Tuesday.
The Fall Instructional League is the first of its
kind to be offered by South Alabama baseball. The league is offered
to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors and is limited to
the first 60 entries. Expert instruction will be given by South
Alabama coaches Steve Kittrell, Ronnie Powell and Rob Reinstetle.
Current USA players will also be offering instruction to participants.
The Fall Instructional League will be held at the
newly renovated Stanky Field and will take place every Wednesday
night and Sunday afternoon from Sept. 11 through Oct. 5th. Wednesday
night sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. Sunday
afternoon sessions will start at 2 p.m. and end at 6 p.m.
League participants will have full access to the
Luis Gonzalez Hitting Facility, as well as use of Stanky Field.
In addition, each participant will take part in a Pro-style tryout
on Sept. 11. In that tryout hitting, arm strength, speed and fielding
will all be graded.
Each session will consist of an hour and 40 minute game that will
include general instruction and a 90 minute hitting portion. Access
to the hitting facility, as well as hitting instruction will be
available up to one hour prior to game time.
The cost of the entire South Alabama Instructional
League (seven sessions) is $275 and includes a written evaluation
and a free South Alabama baseball T-shirt.
