USA BASEBALL ANNOUNCES 2005 WINTER BASEBALL

Alabama head baseball Coach Steve Kittrell announced Monday that
this year’s 2005 South Alabama Winter Baseball Camp will be
held Dec. 29 and 30. This year’s camp is open to players between
the ages of 8-18 and will be held at Stanky Field on the campus
of South Alabama.
The camp will be from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be made up of two sessions each day. The
morning session will focus on individual defense and position play.
During the afternoon session, hitting will be the primary focus.
Instruction for the camp
will be provided by the South Alabama coaching staff including,
Kittrell, Ronnie Powell and Rob Reinstetle. Several Major League
organizations will be represented, including the Florida Marlins
and the Seattle Mariners. Dan Jennings Vice-President of Player
Personnel for the Marlins and Mike Goff Major League Field Coach
for the Mariners will be instructors, along with other professional
scouts.
The fielding portion
will be broken down into fundamentals of catching, pitching infield
play and outfield play. Hitting will be broken into stance, stride
and pivot. Each participant will have video taken of them with an
opportunity for evaluation.
Early registration is
strongly encouraged. Each participant is encouraged to bring a glove
and any equipment that they own. The two day-four session camp is
$125 per player. A $10 discount will be given to anyone registered
before Dec. 15.
