NEW ORLEANS | South Alabama Athletics was well-represented Friday when the Sun Belt Conference announced its academic honors for the 2025-26 school year.
 
The Jaguars placed 179 student-athletes on the Commissioner's List, which requires a 3.5 GPA or higher. South also had 130 student-athletes make the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll by having between a 3.0 and 3.49 GPA. Both numbers for the Commissioner's List and the Academic Honor Roll were significant increases for the department from the previous academic year.

"Our student-athletes demonstrate an incredible commitment both in competition and in the classroom," Assistant Athletic Director, Student-Athlete Academic Services Summer Stover said. "Their dedication to academic excellence is something we take great pride in at the University of South Alabama, and this recognition is a reflection of the hard work and high standards they continue to uphold."

Additionally, USA had 10 student-athletes win the 1A FAR Academic Excellence Award, which is awarded to those who have earned a bachelor's degree in the previous year with a 3.8 GPA or higher, and participated in at least two years of intercollegiate athletics at an NCAA FBS institution.

Teneal Els | Women's Cross Country/Track & Field
Dianna Goodman | Women's Cross Country/Track & Field
