MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama soccer is set to begin the program's three-match home stand against Alabama State and Samford this weekend at The Cage. The Jags will face Alabama State at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Samford at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

SCOUTING THE JAGS (0-2-0):

• South Alabama looks to add a mark on the win column after road losses to Mississippi State and Tennessee. The Lady Vols now rank 16th in the country.
• Mackenzie Smith swatted a career-high nine saves against the Bulldogs on Aug. 12, beating her previous record of eight. Smith has the third-most saves in the Sun Belt this season.
• The Jags seek to defend their five-match unbeaten streak at The Cage, their last loss against Mississippi State on Sept. 7, 2025.

MATCH THREE: ALABAMA STATE (0-2-0)

• SERIES HISTORY: The Jags are 4-0-0 against the Lady Hornets, their last meeting a 2-0 South shutout on Sept. 4, 2012.
• SCOUTING THE LADY HORNETS: Alabama State will travel to Mobile for the program's first road match of the season following a 1-3 loss to Presbyterian on Sunday. The Lady Hornets are led by Alicia Wilson, who enters her second year at the helm.
• PROMOTION: Thursday's match theme is "Home Opener," and attendees can get a schedule poster while supplies last.

MATCH FOUR: SAMFORD (1-0-1)

• SERIES HISTORY: The Jags are 1-1-2 overall against the Bulldogs, their last match a 0-0 draw at The Cage on Aug. 19, 2016.
• SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Samford has had an impressive start to the 2026 campaign, drawing with #2 Notre Dame to open the season. The Bulldogs then shut out Belmont in a 2-0 win on Aug. 16, earning them 12 votes to be the first team out of the United Soccer Coaches Top-25.
• PROMOTION: Sunday's match theme is "Salute to Service."
