MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Track & Field powered through challenging conditions and delivered a dominant performance at the Jaguar Invitational, racking up 13 event victories and a host of podium finishes at Jaguar Track.
On the track, Nieko Garnes led the way with a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 52.63, while Marlon Miller captured the 400 meters with a time of 48.94. In the distance events, freshman Brady Keller continued his strong season with a win in the 1500 meters (3:50.66), while Emily Miles added a victory on the women's side in the same event, crossing in 4:36.53.
South Alabama also dominated the hurdles early, as Presleigh Montalvo claimed the women's 100-meter hurdles title in 13.92, with Allie Germann finishing runner-up in 13.97 to give the Jaguars a 1-2 finish.
In the field events, the Jaguars made a statement with multiple event wins and top finishes. Reuben Booysen led the way with a pair of victories, winning both the hammer throw (60.64m) and javelin (68.28m). Iyana Johnson added another title in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 58.54m, while Flora Dupans captured the discus crown at 48.80m.
South Alabama continued its dominance in the vertical events as Jonathan Henderson cleared 2.05m to win the high jump, and Terek Logan secured the pole vault title with a clearance of 5.30m. On the women's side, Dianna Goodman took first in the pole vault with a personal-best 4.01m.
The Jaguars also saw strong performances in the throwing events, as Akasha Dudley won the shot put with a personal-best mark of 15.03 meters, while teammates Logan Nienaber and Calli Stokes finished second and third, respectively, to give South Alabama a dominant showing in the event.
Additional podium finishes came from Samuel Mika, who placed second in both the hammer throw (60.40m) and discus (51.51m), and Joshua Acker, who recorded top-five finishes across multiple throwing events.
