MONTGOMERY, Ala. - South Alabama (16-9, 3-3 SBC) was shutout for the first time this season when it dropped Tuesday night's contest with No. 5 Auburn (20-4, 4-2 SEC) at DABOS Park by a 10-0 final score.

PRIMARY THREADS

• No. 5 Auburn struck early for a run on an RBI double in the home half of the first frame before following up with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to take an early 3-0 advantage.
• Two more Tiger runs crossed in the fourth inning on three hits including one two-RBI single.
• Right-hander Tyler Smith made his second appearance of the season and was first out of the bullpen for the Jaguars and turned in 1.1 innings of scoreless ball with a strikeout.
• Seven pitches was all Max Miller needed when he sat down the Tigers 1-2-3 in the sixth inning.

KEY STATS

• Designated hitter Paxton Bigby tagged a double and a single in the setback to make him six for his last 10 at the dish.
• RHP Jacob Haley made his first appearance of the season.
• Nick Richardson made his first start in center field and singled at the plate.
• Starting pitcher Hayden O'Dell took his first loss of the season. The southpaw went 3.2 innings and allowed five earned runs.

ON DECK
The Jaguars will spend its third conference series at home when Old Dominion travels to Mobile. Friday night's series opener is slated for 6:30 p.m., while the series will continue Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The series finale on Sunday afternoon is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
