NOTABLE

• Friday marked just the third time ever that Samford has defeated South Alabama.
• The Jaguars won three first sets in singles play, and lost two first sets in tiebreak fashion.
• Jules Caby played at the No. 3 position, his highest spot in the lineup this season.

QUOTABLE
 
"We were expecting a good battle because Samford has had a good season so far. But, I'm a little disappointed. In doubles, we just didn't serve well enough to win. We had the momentum in singles. We were winning on five out of six courts, so I'm happy with how we fought today. Once Samford started fighting back, we got surprised. When things didn't go our way, we kind of froze on some courts. We've got to work on that, but credit to Samford. We competed well, but we've got to be able to fight back."
