Tigers Take Advantage of Walks; Use Big First Inning to Defeat Jags

MOBILE, Ala. | Auburn took advantage of 12 South Alabama walks and erupted for six runs in the opening frame en route to a 11-2 win in five innings over the Jags Tuesday night at Jaguar Field.

Key Moments
•    Auburn erupted for six runs in the opening frame loading the bases without the benefit of a hit
•    With the bases loaded, Kylie Shaw scored on a wild pitch and then after reloading the bases, Haven Roebuck drew a bases-loaded walk to plate the second run of the inning (AU, 2-0)
•    Delaney Aumua then delivered the big blow as she cleared the bases three pitches later with a grand slam to straight-away center field (AU, 6-0)
•    The Tigers loaded the bases for the second-straight inning after three more walks, and Aumua drove in two more (AU, 8-0)
•    Auburn added to its lead with two more runs in the third after a RBI single and a sac fly (AU, 10-0)
•    Reganied Franka reached for the second time with a lead off walk to begin the Jaguar third and Presley Lively singled through the left side of the infield to put a pair on, F9, Kara Wine two-run double (AU, 10-2), 
•    The Tigers got a run back the next half inning as Daigle Wilson scored on a wild pitch after walking, stealing a base and advancing on an errant throw (AU, 11-2)

Key Stats
•    Wine was one of just four South Alabama players to record a hit as the freshman also drove the Jags' lone two runs
•    Franka reached base safely in two of her three plate appearances with a hit-by-pitch and a walk
•    Lively had a hit and scored a run for South
•    The 12 walks issued by South Alabama pitch were a season-high 
•    Eight different players scored at least one run for Auburn with the top three in the batting order scoring twice each
•    McKaela Walker had a hit, scored twice, drove in a run and walked three times for Auburn
•    Aumua was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and drove in six

Postgame Notes
•    The last opposing player to hit a grand slam off of South Alabama; Anna Wohlers (Auburn, 3/19/25)
•    The six RBI by Aumua were also the most since AnnaLea Adams had six against the Jags last spring in the same game
•    The last time South gave up six or more runs in the first inning came against Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. (3/9/24)
•    Franka extended her reached base safely streak to nine with her hit-by-pitch in the first frame
•    Lively has reached base safely in six of her last eight
•    Wine has had either a hit, a walk or driven in a run in 15 of her last 17 games, and has had a hit and driven in a run in each of her last five games
•    The multi-RBI game marked the second of the season for Wine
•    Gracie Dees has had a hit in 10 of her last 13 – including four of her last five – and has recorded at least one hit in 23 of last her last 29 games
