Franka’s Career Night Not Enough as Jags Fall at No. 10 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Reganied Franka recorded a career-high three hits, but it wasn't enough as South Alabama fell, 8-4 to 10th-ranked Florida State at JoAnne Graf Field Wednesday night.

Quotable – head coach Becky Clark
- On her thoughts on the game: "I thought we competed tonight and were in that game all seven. Offensively, we outhit them. There were some defensive plays that need to be cleaned up that cost us and a few pitches I think we wish we had back. I was proud of our effort though and I think we have ourselves something to work off of going into the weekend."

Key Moments
•    Isa Torres – who entered the game with a nation-best .597 batting average – led off the bottom of the first for Florida State (22-4) with a solo shot to left center – her third home run of the season – to give the Seminoles the early 1-0 lead
•    South Alabama (16-11) threatened to tie the game up the next half inning as Edy Gavin lined a one-out single to left, and tried to score on Kara Wine's double to left center, but she was thrown out at the plate
•    After having scoring opportunities each of the first two innings, the Jaguars broke through with a run as Franka led off the top of the third with a double to left center – her second hit of the game – and after a pitching change, moved to third on a wild pitch before coming home on Presley Lively's RBI-single to left to tie the game at 1-1
•    Lively later stole second with one out and after a walk to Virginia Mambelli, Lillie Stagner singled off the second baseman's glove, scoring Lively from second (USA, 2-1)
•    Torres led off the bottom of the third with her second hit of the game for the Seminoles, and after a fielder's choice, FSU tied the game back up (2-2) on a RBI-single back up the middle by Bella Ruggiero
•    The two runners then moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, and Kennedy Harp then homered to right center (FSU, 5-2)
•    South Alabama threatened again in its half of the fourth after a walk by Wine and infield singles by Franka and Lively, but Bella Dimitrijevic (5-1) was able to end the inning with a ground-ball double play
•    Torres reached for the third time and stole second to move into scoring position, before coming around to score on Jaysoni Beachum's RBI-single back up the middle and extend Florida State's lead to four (6-2)
•    In the top of the sixth, Wine cut the deficit in half with a one-out, solo shot – her second of the season – to straight-away center (FSU, 6-3)
•    Hayley Griggs bunt single and moved to second on a Jaguar throwing error, moved to third on wild pitch, came home on South's second error of the frame (FSU, 7-3)
•    Infield single by Torres – her third hit and fourth time reaching – put runners at first and second, and the Seminoles added another insurance run when Angelee Bueno scored while the Jags were attempting to turn two (FSU, 8-3)
•    Lively led off the seventh with a triple to right and then came home on Gracie Dees' RBI-groundout to second (FSU, 8-4)
