No. 17 LSU Uses Big Inning to Pull Away from Jags

BATON ROUGE, La. | No. 17 LSU erupted for seven runs in the bottom half of the third to break the game open and eventually pick up a 10-2, run-rule win over South Alabama Tuesday night at Tiger Park.

Quotable – head coach Becky Clark
- On the loss: "Tonight was disappointing because we never gave ourselves a chance. I thought we let it get too big for us and didn't take care of the fundamentals of the game. We had too many mistakes against a quality team. We have work to do and a lot to clean up."

Key Moments
•    With two outs and runners at the corners, Alix Franklin singled through the right side of the infield, scoring Jalia Lassiter (walk) to give LSU (8-4) the early 1-0 advantage
•    A Jaguar error one batter kept the inning alive and loaded the bases, and Ally Hutchins then drew a walk to plate an unearned run (LSU, 2-0)
•    South Alabama (7-4) got a run back the next half inning as Sydney Stewart lined a two-out single through the left side of the infield, scoring Olivia Branstetter (walk) from second (LSU, 2-1)
•    The Tigers answered back with a run in the bottom half of the second as Tori Edwards singled to left with two runners on and two away, scoring Lassiter (LSU, 3-1) who had walked for the second time
•    LSU broke the game open with seven runs on four hits and two Jaguar errors in the third
•    The Tigers loaded the bases with one out, and Lassiter chopper bounded over Branstetter's head at third scoring the first two runs, and the ball was misplayed in left, allowing Avery Hodge and Lassiter to come around and score as well (LSU, 7-1)
•    With the bases loaded for the second time in the inning, Franklin lined a triple to right (LSU, 10-1)
•    The Jaguars were able to score a run in the top of the fifth on Presley Lively's RBI-single to center (LSU, 10-2)
