MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's basketball fell to Texas State on Thursday, 69-63. Five Jaguars scored in double figures, including
Diawna Carter-Hartley, who recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
KEY MOMENTS:
- The Jaguars started hot, leading Texas State 14-3 with six minutes left in the quarter. The Bobcats then responded by forcing three turnovers and a Jaguar scoring drought to end the quarter.
- Texas State continued to build momentum in the second quarter, going on a 13-3 run to open the quarter. Meanwhile, South Alabama was 1-for-10 from the field until a fastbreak layup and three-pointer from Chrysta Narcisse kick-started the Jaguars.
- Narcisse would lead the Jaguars to a 10-4 run to end the quarter, draining another three-pointer followed by a layup from Cordasia Harris.
- Texas State outscored the Jaguars 18-12 in the third quarter, led by Angela Carroll, who went 3-for-3 from the field.
- The Bobcats tightened up late in the fourth quarter, going on a 6-0 run to put them up two points with just over a minute left on the clock. They would extend their run, going 10-0 and holding the Jaguars to a nearly three-minute scoring drought. Texas State would win the game, 69-63.
KEY STATS:
- Amyah Sutton had an impressive first quarter, scoring eight points and going 3-for-6 from the field. Similarly, Chrysta Narcisse scored eight points and went 2-for-5 from beyond the arc in the second quarter.
- Alicia Spann put on an impressive performance, tying her career-highs in points (10) and rebounds (8).
- The Jaguars led the Bobcats for over 35 minutes of the game.
- Thursday's deficit marks South Alabama's sixth loss by six or fewer points this season.
