Men's Basketball to Host Buffalo in Second Leg of MAC-SBC Challenge

MOBILE, Ala. – The Sun Belt and Mid-American Conferences announced the second MAC–SBC Challenge matchup of the season Tuesday morning, with South Alabama men's basketball set to host Buffalo on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Mitchell Center.

The 2025–26 season marks the third year of the MAC–SBC Challenge, a scheduling alliance between the Sun Belt and Mid-American Conferences in both men's and women's basketball. Each participating team is guaranteed one home and one road contest during the season.

South Alabama opened this year's challenge on the road, earning a 76–74 victory at Toledo on Nov. 3 in a back-and-forth affair.

Matchups for the challenge are determined using real-time NET rankings in conjunction with the Ordinal Sports Group, with geography, relevant NET data, and the frequency of past matchups all factored into the scheduling process. Every MAC–SBC Challenge game is carried across ESPN platforms.

With the win at Toledo in the opening leg, South Alabama will now host Buffalo for the second all-time meeting between the two programs. The Jaguars defeated the Bulls 70–56 on Nov. 11, 2023, in the previous matchup in Buffalo.

Buffalo has opened the 2025–26 campaign with an impressive start, posting a 13–2 overall record and a 3–0 mark in Mid-American Conference play, with wins over Western Michigan, Ball State, and Northern Illinois.
