– South Alabama's trip to Denton to take on North Texas marks the first time the Jaguars will leave the state of Alabama this season. The road contest at the Mean Green will be the first of two games the Jags will play in the Lonestar State this season, the other being at Texas State to close the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 29.

– Saturday's game between South Alabama and North Texas will prove to be a test for both teams as the Jaguars boast the nation's number 17 passing defense while the Mean Green rank 15th nationally with 10 passing touchdowns on the season.

– The Jaguars will look to win their first game in the state of Texas since 2011. That year, South Alabama traveled to San Antonio where it defeated UTSA, 30-27, in double overtime.

The Mean Green enter Saturday's game with a perfect 4-0 record. North Texas scores 47 points per game and its defense allows just 19.5. Eric Morris is in his third season as head coach at UNT and owns a record of 15-14. Quarterback Drew Mestemaker has thrown for 1,013 yards and 10 touchdowns through four games. He spreads the touches to all his receivers as the Mean Green have four players with over 100 yards receiving. Linebacker Shane Whitter leads the defensive attack with 36 total tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

North Texas owns a 2-0 series lead against the Jaguars, with the most-recent meeting taking place in last year's season opener at Hancock Whitney Stadium. After a tightly-contested, first-three quarters, the Mean Green created the separation needed to defeat the Jaguars 52-38.
