MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Soccer (6-2, 2-0) is set to face Southern Miss (2-6-1, 1-1) in a road match at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Southern Miss Soccer Complex in Hattiesburg, Miss.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Jags are 11-6-2 overall against the Golden Eagles, their last match resulting in a scoreless draw at The Cage in Mobile, Ala., on Sept. 25, 2024.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- The Jags heads into the match after dominating Coastal Carolina 4-1 in the closer of a six-match homestand, moving them to 2-0 in conference play.
- South is led by redshirt-sophomore Andrea Iljkic, who has recorded five goals, two assists and 11 shots on goal this season.
- The program is ranked 24th in the nation in scoring offense and first in the Sun Belt in goal differential (12) and shutout percentage (.500).
- Sierra Giorgio is tied for first with the most shutouts in the Sun Belt (3). Sofia Ferrante ranks second in the Sun Belt in total assists (5) and assists per game (.63).
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:
- The Golden Eagles head into the match after defeating Troy on the road 1-0, Southern Miss's first road win of the season. Their keeper, Maddie Ellis, recorded 12 saves and a clean sheet. Chloe Tayor scored their lone goal.
- Southern Miss is led offensively by Ryan Smith, who has scored three goals for the season. Maddie Ellis has recorded 39 saves for the season, the Sun Belt's best.
