– Saturday's game against Morgan State will kick off the 17th season of South Alabama Football. The Jaguars have lost back-to-back season openers, and will look to pick of their first season-opening victory since defeating Nicholls by a score of 48-7 in 2022.
 
– South Alabama added 31 transfers to its roster during the offseason. 65 percent of South's 2025 newcomers joined the roster via the transfer portal.
 
– The Jaguars return 42 percent of their production from the 2024 campaign, ranking them 109th in the FBS in returning production for the 2025 season.

ABOUT MORGAN STATE
 
The Bears enter the 2025 season on the heels of a 6-6 campaign in 2024. Morgan State is led by head coach Damon Wilson who is entering his fourth year at the helm of the program. In his three seasons so far, Wilson holds a record of 14-19. Morgan State boasts the MEAC's Offense and Defensive Players of the Year in running back Jason Collins Jr. and linebacker Erick Hunter.
 
SERIES HISTORY
 
South Alabama and Morgan State have never met on the football field. The Jaguars are 11-1 against FCS opponents since becoming a full Division I member.
