MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Football quarterback Bishop Davenport has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List.
 
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is presented annually to the nation's outstanding Division I college offensive player who meets one or more of the following criteria: 1. Played football at and graduated from a Texas high school; or 2. Play at a Texas Division I four-year college. The player must also exhibit the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell, including integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, community and tenacity. Specifically, tenacity to persist, drive, determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
 
A graduate of Spring High School in Spring, Texas, Davenport saw action in 11 games for the Jaguars in 2024 while making starts against Ohio and Western Michigan. He completed 48 passes for 604 yards and three touchdowns on the year and also rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown. Davenport threw for 226 yard and a touchdown on 23 completions in his first start for the Jaguars at Ohio. Then, in South's second-straight bowl championship, he threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns on 15 completions. He also rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown against Western Michigan to help USA secure the IS4s Salute to Veterans Bowl championship.
 
Davenport and the Jaguars kick off the 2025 season on Saturday, Aug. 30 at home against Morgan State. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. CT.
