Jaguars Announce 2025 Schedule; Solid Non-Conference Slate Awaits

2025 Schedule

MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama head coach Jesse Ortiz announced the program's 2025 schedule on Monday. The Jaguars will be tested during the non-conference portion of its schedule as they are slated to face four teams that reached postseason play, as well as six teams which reached the 20-win plateau a year ago.

The 27-match slate features three teams which made the NCAA tournament (Baylor, Florida State, Texas State) and NIVC participant, Arkansas State.

"We are excited about the upcoming season," Ortiz said. "This upcoming season's schedule is going to test our group early, but we feel that it will prepare us for the rigors of the Sun Belt, and post season play."

Prior to the start of the season, South will host its annual Red versus Blue scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. where Jaguar fans will get their first look at this season's squad, and then travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for an exhibition match versus Florida State (8/23) at 2 p.m.

South Alabama will begin the regular season on the road as week one sees the club travel to Baton Rouge, La., to face Baylor (8/29) and LSU (8/30). The Bears finished with a 23-8 record and entered the postseason as the No. 15 national seed in the NCAA tournament. The following weekend, the Jaguars head to Milwaukee, Wis., for three matches: vs. Central Michigan (9/5), Iowa State (9/6) and Milwaukee (9/7). Milwaukee is coming off a 20-win campaign and a 15-3 mark in the MAC.

A week later, South will return home for its first home matches at Jag Gym with a three-team, three-day tournament, welcoming Southeastern Louisiana (9/11) and Tulane (9-13) for the Jaguar Invitational. The Jags will open up with the Lions, who won their second-straight Southland Conference regular season title after finishing 26-5 and 16-0 in league play. After a neutral match the following day, South Alabama is set to close out the event against the Green Wave.

South Alabama will then begin a four-match road trip with a midweek match up at Mississippi State on Sept. 16. For the second-straight season, South will compete at the Alabama Showdown where it will face Samford (9/18), UAB (9/19) and Auburn (9/21), the weekend prior to stepping into Sun Belt Conference play.

The Jaguars will open up SBC play at in-state rival Troy (9/26-27). The three other conference home match series for South are slated to be against Southern Miss (10/17-18), James Madison (10/30-31) and Arkansas State (11/7-8). South Alabama will also travel to ULM (10/3-4), Texas State (10/9-10), Louisiana (10/24-25) and Coastal Carolina (11/14-15) during conference play.

All home matches and select road matches will be available on ESPN+. All courtside seating is currently SOLD OUT. Bleacher seating inside Jag Gym is free to the public and is on a  first come, first serve basis for all regular season home volleyball matches.
