MONROE, La. -Â South Alabama (21-28, 10-18 SBC) left the bases loaded in the ninth inning but was unable to find home as ULM (22-31, 8-20 SBC) took the series opener, 4-0.

Dalton Brooks threw 2.2 innings before being relieved by lefty
Jaxon Shineflew, who threw the final 5.1 innings allowing four hits, no runs, and tying his season-best seven strikeouts throughout the rest of the game.
The Jaguars had two hits heading into the ninth inning, with a first inning single from
John Smith III, and a double off the right field wall for
Duncan Mathews in the seventh inning.
Kyle Morrison drove a leadoff double in the ninth inning, followed by a
Lucas Ismaili single, and Mathews loading the bases with a walk. The Jags were unable to move the runners from there as ULM found the final three outs.
