Men's Basketball Signs Adam Olsen for 2025-26 season

MOBILE, Ala. –  South Alabama men's basketball head coach Richie Riley announced the signing of Canadian forward Adam Olsen for the 2025-26 season Thursday afternoon.

Olsen, a 6-7 Wing from Surrey, B.C. Canada., signed with the Jaguars after spending the past two seasons at the University of British Columbia of the Canada West Universities Athletic Association. During the 2024-25 season, he had a dominant year, averaging 15.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and two assists per game while shooting 42.0 percent from the field with a team-leading 71 triples made. Olsen was a force on a Thunderbirds team that finished their season 31-8, making appearances in the Canada West Championship game and the Canadian National Tournament in the INDOCHINO U Sports Final 8. In total, he racked up 27 games in double figures and seven games with 20 points or more,  contributing 16.2 points, four rebounds, and 2.7 assists per contest in the last nine games of the year.

"Adam is a major addition to our program," Riley said. "He's a three level scorer and a tremendous weapon offensively. His feel for the game and basketball IQ blew us away in the recruiting process. Pumped to have him with us, and I can't wait to watch him be great here."

As a freshman, Olsen totaled 255 points, 80 rebounds, and 47 three-pointers across 25 appearances, putting up double figures in 13 contests while shooting 41.9 percent from the floor and 37.9 percent from downtown. Upon conclusion of the 2023-24 season, he was picked to play for the Vancouver Bandits in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

In his prep years, he attended Elgin Park Secondary School. He played for two club teams, Athlete Elite and the U18 provincial team for British Columbia, where he secured second place in the 2022 Niagara Canadian Summer Games.

Olsen is the fifth transfer addition for the Jaguars in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He joins fellow transfers Brian Hawthorne, Chaze Harris, Peyton Law, and Stephen Williams, as well as freshman signees Desmond Williams and Samuel Shoptaw.
