South Alabama men's basketball signs Stephen Williams

MOBILE, Ala. – Stephen Williams has signed to play for the South Alabama men's basketball team, head coach Richie Riley announced Wednesday afternoon.

Williams, a 6-9 forward from Atmore, Ala., joins the Jaguars after playing his freshman season at Coastal Alabama Community College in 2024-25,  where he contributed 16.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and two blocks per contest while shooting 59.0 percent from the field and 67.4 percent from the free throw line. He received second-team Alabama Community College D-1 All-Conference honors, finishing with double figures 20 times, eight double-doubles, 20 points or more 10 times, and 50 total blocks, including eight blocks in one game against Southwest Mississippi Community College.

"Stephen is a major addition to our program," Riley said. "Not only because he's going to be a big-time player but the type of person he is every day. His ability to be a dominant presence inside is something we've not had here in a while. There truly is no ceiling for him and I'm pumped to have him in our family."

Before Coastal Alabama, Williams was named First-Team All-State at Escambia County High School. He averaged a double-double with 13.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 4.4 blocks throughout his junior and senior seasons.

Williams is the fourth transfer to sign with the Jaguars program in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He joins fellow transfers Brian Hawthorne, Chaze Harris, and Peyton Law, as well as freshman signees Desmond Williams and Samuel Shoptaw.
