Jaguars Down Georgia State at Home for Fifth Straight Victory

MOBILE, Ala.- South Alabama earned their fifth straight victory as they downed Georgia State Sunday afternoon at Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts in a 4-1 final.
 
The Jaguars improve their record to 9-2 this season, including 2-0 in conference play.
 
The Jaguars competed hard against the Panthers in doubles, with Delien Kleinhans and Rio Maeda of the #1 spot earning a 6-2 win to get South started. Chems Doha Zeghlouli and Kenza Elakili went the extra mile as they downed their opponents in a 7-6 (7-2) final to claim the doubles point as the #2 spot.
 
South continued to roll in singles as Chems Doha Zeghlouli downed her opponent 6-3, 6-0 in the #3 position. Kenza Elakili gave the Jaguars another point in the #5 spotdefeating her opponent  6-2, 6-3. Lara van der Merwe delivered South the victory in the sixth spot as the senior gutted out an impressive 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 win.
 
"Credit to Georgia State, they played a great match" said head coach Dr. Jaco Keyser. "That was a lot of determination and grit by the girls and I think this is a great reference point going forward that we can win matches even when we don't have our best stuff on the day. Looking forward to resting up and a couple of tough road trips ahead".

South will begin their lengthy road trip as they face App State on Friday at 10:00 AM CT followed by a Sunday match against Marshall at 10:00 AM CT.
