Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Jags Drop Thrilling Match to Alabama State

MOBILE, Ala. – With Alabama State holding a 3-2 lead, the match came down to two three-set contests, but South Alabama Men's Tennis could not break through in both of them as the Hornets held on to claim a 4-3 victory.

The loss dropped the Jaguars to 2-4 on the season.

After dropping the doubles point, South got two quick points as Harold van Raemdonck and Juan Accossatto made quick work of their opponents in straight sets. Raemdonck defeated his Alabama State Opponent 6-0, 6-4 while Accossatto earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

The third and final win of the day went to true freshman Adam Bouyacoub who had to fight his way back from a set down. After dropping the first set 6-7, Bouyacoub dominated the remainder of the match 6-3, 6-0 in the second and third sets to give the Jags a third team point.

Friday's team decision came down to No. 3 singles where Romeo Hadzimehmedovic found himself coming back from down a set as well to force a third set. Unfortunately, Hadzimehmedovic could not complete the comeback, falling 7-3 in a third-set tiebreak.

South Alabama will return to the court on Sunday, Feb. 9 against Jacksonville State. Sunday's match will start at 10 a.m. CT.
