MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Women's Basketball defeated Kennesaw State 66-54 on Tuesday night at the Mitchell Center, winning the first-ever matchup between the two programs.
KEY MOMENTS:
- Kennesaw State opened up the first quarter with a 4-0, but it was quickly ended by Amyah Sutton, who put a ball in the net from downtown. However, seven Jaguar turnovers would stall offensive progress, ending the quarter 13-16.
- Daniela Gonzalez led South Alabama in a comeback effort, going 2-2 from beyond the arc. The Jags finished the first half being tied at 28 with the Owls.
- The Jaguars exploded in the third quarter, scoring the same amount of points in the quarter as they did in the first two combined. Cordasia Harris, who entered the quarter pointless, netted six points and grabbed five rebounds. Ronaltha Marc also had a six-piece, going an impressive 3-3 from the field.
KEY STATS:
- South Alabama is now 5-1 overall, the program's best start to the season in seven years.
- The Jaguars went 50.0% from the field tonight, just three percent shy of tying their season high.
- Daniela Gonzalez continues to turn heads, recording 14 points and going 3-3 from downtown and 5-6 in overall shooting.
- Cordasia Harris had a balanced performance tonight, recording eight points, nine rebounds, four steals, two blocks and no turnovers.
- The Jags recorded a season-low 14 fouls tonight.

- "I think we did a better job tonight of handling pressure – we've been working on it all week … We talked about it all the way from May – we want to be the best conditioned team on our schedule. The Jaguars will close their homestand against Florida A&M 1 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala. There will be a canned food drive.
