– South Alabama cornerback Nehemiah Chandler ranks 10th in the nation in pass breakups per game with an average of 1.29 passes defended per contest.
 
– South Alabama went 2-0 in Thursday-night games a season ago. The Jags defeated Northwestern State 87-0 before dominating App State 48-14 in their Sun Belt Conference Opener.

ABOUT GEORGIA STATE
 
The Panthers enter Thursday's game with an identical record to South Alabama at 1-6 overall and 0-3 in Sun Belt play. GSU's one win this season came against Murray State at home. Dell McGee is in his second season as head coach at Georgia State and owns a record of 4-15 with the Panthers. Georgia State has played two quarterbacks throughout the season. Cameran Brown has thrown for 882 yards and eight touchdowns while TJ Finley has totaled 816 yards and four touchdowns. Rashad Amos leads the ground attack with 242 rushing yards and two scores. The Panthers are led defensively by Josiah Robinson, who has made 55 total tackles, including six tackles for loss.
