MOBILE, Ala.- South Alabama fell to Louisiana at home Thursday afternoon in a 76-50 final.
Both sides traded baskets in the early going, as a
Princess Okafor Nweze bucket helped make the score 6-5 in the visitors' favor. The Jags found many offensive opportunities but struggled to convert, as the visitors closed the quarter on a 13-4 run.
The Jaguars shooting struggles continued as the visitors extended their lead to as much as 22.
Chrysta Narcisse helped put a dent in the lead as the freshman connected on back-to-back threes to give South some momentum. South Alabama continued to fight as they entered the half down 41-21.
At the beginning of the third, the visitors unfortunately jumped out to a 7-2 run to extend their lead. South Alabama continued to fight as
Rachel Leggett converted on inside finishes and attacked the glass.
Daniela Gonzalez also managed to step up and help slow down Louisiana's offense as the quarter winded down.
Leggett and Gonzalez helped lead a valiant effort in the fourth as the Jaguars continued to push. South's defense managed to slow down the visitors as they outscored them in the quarter 16-14. South Alabama continued to give a great effort but fell in a 76-50 final.
STATS
Rachel Leggett led the charge for South, as the junior guard scored a season-high 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
Daniela Gonzalez also added in 12 points for South.

South Alabama will have a quick turnaround as they hit the road to face Texas State on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
