MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama football standouts Jaden Voisin and Wy'kevious Thomas were selected to the 2024 HERO Sports Group of Five Preseason All-American Teams, the organization announced Thursday.
Safety Jaden Voisin was named First Team All-American, and defensive tackle Wy'kevious Thomas received Third Team All-American honors.
Voisin recorded a team-high four interceptions in 2023 with seven pass breakups. He finished fourth on the team in tackles with 66, 29 of which were solo takedowns. He recorded two tackles for loss on the year and forced one fumble. His efforts led to him being selected by the All-Sun Belt First Team. Thomas anchored South Alabama's defensive line in 2023 with 36 tackles. He recorded 2.5 tackles for loss on the season and one sack, which led to him earning All-SBC Third Team honors.
Voisin's spot on the First Team All-American honors is the latest of his many preseason awards, including the Wuerfful Trophy Watch List, Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, Preseason All-Sun Belt Team, and Phil Steele's and Athlon's Preseason All-Sun Belt Teams. He also landed a spot on the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 List. This is the second preseason honor for Thomas as he was named Preseason Second Team All-Sun Belt by the media.
Additionally, South Alabama was ranked as the 25th ranked team Group of Five program in the country.
