South Alabama Announces Four Additions to Athletics Hall of Fame

MOBILE, Ala – The University of South Alabama is pleased to announce its newest Hall of Fame class to be inducted this fall.
 
This year's class includes former Jaguar student-athletes Devin Brown (Softball, 2015-18), Steffi Hardy (Women's Soccer, 2014-17), Rio Hardy (Women's Soccer, 2014-17) and Travis Swaggerty (Baseball, 2016-18).
 
The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Moulton Bell Tower and Alumni Plaza in conjunction with the university's homecoming festivities. The event is free to attend and open to the public. The Jaguar football team will host ULM later that day at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
 
Devin Brown, Softball, 2015-18
 
• Earned first-team all-Sun Belt Conference honors all four seasons, first player in program history to do so
• Named second-team all-NFCA South Region as a sophomore
• Ended career with 932 strikeouts, ranking fourth all-time in the category among Sun Belt Conference Pitchers, fourth in career shutouts (31) and sixth in career saves (8),
            all marks in which she still is the program's leader
• Was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week a program-record 12 times during her Jaguar career, taking home the honor five times during her sophomore
            season
• Finished her junior season with a 1.55 earned run average, a 19-7 record with 194 strikeouts, going the distance in 21 of her 25 starts and registering 12 shutouts during
            the year
• As a sophomore, posted 20 wins in the circle with a 1.66 earned run average, striking out 324 batters in 206.2 innings of work, and accumulating 11 shutouts
• Her 324 strikeouts during the 2016 season set a single-season record, and she led the club in the category each of her four seasons
• Led the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio (10.97) during the 2016 season
•  Entered the circle in relief in the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Championship game and picked up the win, shutting out Louisiana, 2-0
•  Led the Jags to a 40-win season, the Sun Belt tournament title and an appearance at the Auburn Regional as a freshman
•  Earned NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honors each of her first two seasons
•  Twice named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List and twice named to the league's academic honor roll
 
Steffi Hardy, Women's Soccer, 2014-17
 
• Earned first-team all-Sun Belt Conference honors during the 2017, '15 and '14 seasons, as well as all-tournament honors as a senior
• Named the SBC Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore as the team tied for first in the league in shutouts (10) and was second in goals allowed (0.96) and goals
            against average (0.92)
• Part of a senior group which turned the program into one of the most dominant in the Sun Belt Conference as the group captured four-straight regular-season, league
            tournament titles, and NCAA tournament appearances
• Over that four-year stretch, South Alabama compiled 68 wins and a .768 winning percentage, while posting a dominant 33-4-1 Sun Belt Conference record for a .880
            winning percentage
• Over her four seasons, South Alabama shut out 42 of its 89 opponents (47.2%)
• As a senior, part of a defense which recorded eight shutouts, including all three opponents at the Sun Belt Conference Championship
• Anchor for the Jaguar defense, which set a program record with 12 shutouts during both the 2016 and the 2014 seasons
•  As a freshman, played major role in defense that allowed just 22 goals all season with a school-record 12 shutouts, while the Jag defense held eight opponents to single-
            digit shots
• Signed to play professionally upon leaving South Alabama
 
Rio Hardy, Women's Soccer, 2014-17
 
• Earned first-team all-Sun Belt Conference honors three times during her Jaguar career, while being selected to the SBC Championship all-tournament team as a freshman,
            sophomore and as a senior
• Was a all-South Region second team selection by the United Soccer Coaches
• Part of a senior group which turned the program into one of the most dominant in the Sun Belt Conference as the group captured four-straight regular-season, league
            tournament titles, and NCAA tournament appearances
• Over that four-year stretch, South Alabama compiled 68 wins and a .768 winning percentage, while posting a dominant 33-4-1 Sun Belt Conference record for a .880
            winning percentage
• Ended her career ranked second in career points (103), goals (43), fifth in both points and goals per game, and eighth in assists
•  Recorded a program-record 14 game-winning goals during her career
• Led the Sun Belt in points (37) and goals (16), as well as six game-winning goals during the 2017 season
• Named the Sun Belt Championship Most Valuable Player after scoring four goals – including a brace in the final – with two assists, to lead the Jaguars to their fifth
            straight tournament title
• Scored two goals at the 2015 Sun Belt tournament, including the game-winner in the championship game vs. Georgia State, for five points
• Also found the net in South's NCAA Tournament win versus LSU that same postseason, the program's first national postseason victory
• Signed to play professionally upon leaving South Alabama
 
Travis Swaggerty, Baseball, 2016-18
 
• Played 19 games for Team USA in the Summer of 2017 for the USA Baseball Collegiate Team, finishing second with 21 hits
• Named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America by Collegiate Baseball
• Named to the NCAA Tallahassee (Fla.) Regional all-tournament team after hitting .412 with one double, one triple, one home run, two RBI, four runs scored and one stolen
            base in four games as a freshman
• Ranked second in the SBC in walks (42), stolen bases (20) and steal attempts (31), third in on-base percentage (.431) and tied for seventh in runs scored (47) as a freshman
• Named second-team All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings, and also earned first-team all-South Central Region by the ABCA and first-team
            all-Sun Belt Conference honors as a sophomore
• Led the SBC in on-base percentage (.484), runs scored (55) and RBI (60), ranked second in batting average (.356), third in walks (49), tied for fourth in hits (78) and stolen
            bases (19), and fifth in slugging percentage (.571) ... Ranked second in the conference in walks (26) in league contests as a sophomore
• Named preseason first-team All-America by Baseball America, D1Baseball, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Perfect Game/Rawlings and College Sports
            Madness, named to the USA Baseball Preseason Golden Spikes Award Watch List, earned third-team preseason All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball, also voted the
            Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year as well as preseason all-Sun Belt Conference prior to junior season
• Named First Team All-Sun Belt as a junior after he finished second in the league in walks (49), tied for fourth in home runs (13), fifth in on-base percentage (.450), eighth
            in runs scored (52) and total plate appearances (258), tied for eighth in total bases (108) and ninth in slugging percentage (.540). He recorded 15 multiple-hit and nine
            multi-RBI games in the regular season, and hit safely in 41 of 53 contests
• Named First Team All-ABCA following junior season
• Became the fifth player in school history to be selected in the first round of the MLB Draft when Pittsburgh selected him 10th overall
