Odalys Cordova (Puerto Rico) and
Sasha Willems (Australia) will represent South Alabama on the world stage next week as the duo competes for their respective countries at the WBSC Women's Softball World Cup Finals held in Castions di Strada, Italy, beginning on Monday (July 15) and continuing through Saturday (July 20) at Campo Comunale da Softball.
The WBSC Women's Softball World Cup Finals will be streamed via GameTime. Fans will have the option of two different services: Tournament Pass ($12.99) or Daily Pass ($7.99). Puerto Rico enters the event ranked No. 2 in the world, just one spot behind Team USA, and earned its berth in the event after competing in Group B at the XVII Softball World Cup. Puerto Rico will face
Australia will open pool play versus Japan, ranked third in the world, on Monday and then take on the Netherlands (No. 8) on Tuesday.
Both Puerto Rico and Australia are paired up in Group B of the six-day event where the two Jaguar teammates will face off against each other on Wednesday (July 17).
Pool B will then crossover and play opponents from Pool A in the Super Round on Thursday and Friday to see who advances to the World Championship Final and Bronze Medal games on Saturday. Pool A consists of the United States (No. 1), Canada (No. 5), Italy (No. 6) and China (No. 17).
