MADISON, Miss. - Sophomore Hugo Thyr wins the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Individual Title for the second straight year as South Alabama places 10th.

Thyr went two-under on opening day, then two-over in round two, with his four-under-par performance on Wednesday forcing a playoff with Arkansas State's Thomas Shmidt. His final line was 70-74-68–212 (-4).

The two played through three playoff holes, going for birdie on 18, then par on nine. Shmidt failed on his second stroke to make it over the water hazard, giving Thyr the upper hand. Thyr then birdied the hole, with Shmidt going for bogey. Thyr is only the second player ever to win back-to-back SBC Individual Titles, the first being Alan Schulte from Old Dominion in 1984-85.

Jacob LeCroy and Joshua Hill both finished T-21st, with LeCroy moving four spots up in round three after going even on the day. 

South Alabama finished 10th overall, with a 303-296-288–887 (+23) score. They did not qualify for match play.
